The Queer Coded Zine
£10.00
A 72 page zine about queer codes throughout history. Covers the topics of Symbols, Flags, Fashion, Flowers, and Lavender Languages.

The zine is fully illustrated and makes the perfect introduction to queer history.

Blurb:

Did you know that white lilies are a symbol of lesbian love in Japan, Korea, and China?

If I said to you, that it seemed like ‘Jinit Jackson’ outside or that it was time to ‘lafang’, would you know what I meant?

These are both examples of queer codes; ways queer people can represent themselves without outing themselves. In this zine, we will explore a wide range of queer codes throughout history and in the present day. These include things like the fashion trend of carabiners, the meaning behind flags, what jewellery screams queer, and how lavender has become synonymous with queerness.

Aimed at readers 13 and above.
